| INTO’s name derives from prayer, study and fasting. We understand these words from a biblical perspective. INTO is an acronym for Illuminating Nations Through Offering an Opportunity.
 The word “illuminates” comes from the Greek word photizo which means to shed rays, to brighten up, to enlighten, bring to or give light, to make to see. It is interesting that this word has two meanings: it signifies “to lighten” which is an outward action and it also suggests “to bring to light” or an inward- moving function.
The word “nation” is defined as a people or a race. In the bible this refers to Gentiles- as beings those foreign to the Israelites. INTO understands that too often humans look at the differences between us rather than the similarities we all share.
The word “through” signifies “the channel of an act, because of, by occasion of, for sake of” derived from the Greek word dia. As a Christian organization we know God has called us to be  instruments, servants such that others may find their needs met.
The word “offer” denotes several meanings. In the Hebrew language it comes from qarab which means “to approach, to cause to bring near or forth, to cause to come near, draw near, present, produce, make ready, stand, and take.” In the Greek it comes from the words anaphero and prosphero which mean “to bear, bring, carry, and lead up, to bear toward, to lead to, to do.” The offering INTO provides presents one individual to another, producing relationships that help ease the burden and lighten the load.
The word “opportunity” comes from the Greek words eukairos and kairos which mean “(convenient, due) season, set or proper time, or time.” God has called INTO to do a work that offers others their due season, such that places which were depressed or limited by a lack of resources or understanding can become opened to more advantages.
We understand this as two ways. Those who live without economic privileges are  oppressed by unjust and exclusive markets that exist throughout the world. Other individuals live in a reality that makes them ignorant to the situations of others while misleading their consumption patterns.
Thus INTO is the vehicle through which broken connections and closed doors may be opened so that people may be “made to see” another’s life and realize that if given the opportunity to understand each other there is more that joins us than divides us. Although INTO may be an alternative trading organization the vision moves beyond business into life- changing partnerships
